To set up the proposed video / photo documentation information service through a parallel news agency called COMMUNE NEWS SERVICE, this platform needs your help, monetary and otherwise. CNS shall distribute video films, and news features to non-profit media and other interested parties with an aim to promote peoples voices.

MFP has an array of editorial ideas suitable for documentary production and photo-essay projects in its files. We are intending to focus on the Culturally Challenged Communities in our first phase of work. Like the spectre of racism in the United States, the vast area of Indian subcontinent is witnessing a silent wave of communalism as deadly and vicious as the racist ideology. Godhra incident in Gujarat is the best recent illustration of how the communal forces work unitedly towards genocide of the minority communities. Likewise, Christian groups and missionaries working deep in the remote villages are facing diatribe and violence and even sometimes threat to their lives from right-wing Hindu fundamentalists. There are also cases of suppression of tribal groups, other indigenous and socially backward groups, Dalits - deprived by caste denominations, subcultures of gay / lesbian communities, kids destroyed by hard labour, sexual exploitation and parental dictatorship, schooling systems etc. These and similar culturally challenged communities would be the focus area of MFP editorial wing. We aim to bring out more and more news / feature / views stories from these deprived, dejected lot into print and electronic media.

For all this and more, we need your compassionate will and involvement. We are seeking a total working fund of $10,000 ( less than Rs. 5,00,000 ) to set up CNS under the aegis of Media For People. Given below are the details of the usage of the fund.

1. To purchase a mini-DV camera Just under Rs. 100,000. ( $ 2,000 )
2. To purchase a digital SLR camera (Nikon D 100)   Just under Rs. 100,000 ( $ 2000 )
3. To maintain office for a year (Including travel expenses / stationery expenses and a survival salary) Just about Rs. 300,000 ( $ 6000 )

We are willing to accept voluntary gift of used / second hand versions of the above-said equipments. We are also open to your valuable suggestions and ideas to take our movement forward.
